Description

  • height of group 9 3/4 in.
  • 24.8 cm
modelled with a ram, a ewe, and four lambs, sponged in blue standing or recumbent on a high rocky base beneath a large fanciful bird perched upon a branch guarding its nest of chicks, the duck-form sauce boats with feathers picked out in blue, green, ochre and brown. Some minor restoration and haircracks.

Condition

Sheep group: The group has been broken in half and restored across the base from a point beneath the recumbent lamb at the front to the rockwork behind the standing ewe and around to the back at about the midpoint. The standing ewe is restored through one leg and the tail. One horn of the ram is restored. The end of the lower branch on the left is restored and it is possible that there is an element missing. There are several minor flat 1/4 inch chips along the front edge of the base. The restoration is very well done. The duck-form sauce boats: The ends of each of the bills is restored and one has a 1 1/2 inch fine haircrack running down from the rim on one side near the tail end.
