Description
each with a cartouche shaped open back with baluster splat, decorated with a coat-of-arms of Duodo of Venice, suspending a ribbon-tied floral bouquet above a bowed drop in padded seat, on cabriole legs terminating in pad feet, the frame painted with tasselled drapery, foliage and stylised lambrequins; reblocked
Condition
Colour overall less greenish and more attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Some of the chairs are a little unstable and the joints need securing. There are old minor marks, chips and scratches and cracquelure commensurate with age. The seat-rails are discoloured having suffered from damp in the past and inscribed 'Alla Villa'. There are some old minor restorations for example the rear foot of one. One chair in particular has suffered more than the rest and the decoration is quite faded on the lower section. There are also generally some hairline cracks. They are slightly dirty and would benefit from a light clean according to taste. A good sized set. In overall good condition.
