A pair of Italian polychrome and ivory lacquered wood chinoiserie vases on stands, possibly Piedmontese 19th century

Description

  • each: 92cm. high, 3ft.¼in.
each of square tapering form with a red lacquered rim above a concave sided neck decorated with a band of flowers and leaves, each side decorated with a chinoiserie figure within a floral and foliate cartouche, with a gilt-bronze lion mask ring handle on each side, on a detachable square base

Condition

Old minor marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age. Attractive detail to painted decoration. Gilding worn on the handles which can either be left or easily regilt. Hairline crack down the side of one vase, but this is not too noticeable. The red decoration on the collars has been partially refreshed. In overall good condition.
