Description

  • 24cm., 9½in.
the cylindrical body probably painted by J.G.Höroldt, with a continuous scene of Orientals at various pursuits including a mandarin being carried in a palanquin by two bearers, a couple embracing, a kneeling boy playing with a toy, between bands of gilt Laub-und Bandelwerk, the circular spreading foot with a broad gilt band, the cover and handle mount flat chased with Régence ornament on matting (haircrack across lower handle terminal, some wear to gilding)

Condition

Haircrack across lower handle terminal where it joins the body. Minor nick to outside edge of rim. Some wear to gilding, particularly to handle and neck. Several scratches to the enamel on the parasol held by one man. Some wear to the siver-gilt on mounts.
