Condition

STRUCTURE The canvas has been lined. PAINT SURFACE The paining is in good condition. There is some surface abrasion to the right hand edge of the canvas, and there are patches of re-touching in the background to the left. There is a line where missing flecks of paint are visible to the left of the sitter's face. ULTRAVIOLET Ultraviolet light reveals fairly extensive re-touching, mainly to the background. FRAME Held in a gilt wood frame.
