Condition

The work is framed in a gold ornate timber frame. Fine areas of cracking in the pink area lower right and across the sky. The work appears in stable condition.

The work bears the following inscription on labels on reverse:
"The village of Les Andelys - made up of le grand Andely and le petit Andely. The village is situated on a bend of the River Seine on the left - a tree covered island - on the right high white chalk cliffs.'

'The picture has been painted by Phillips Fox from the Chateau Gaillard, the 12th century castle of Richard Lion Heart. 1906."
