Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 6-8 cracks to the glass throughout. The base is in excellent condition, with minimal signs of wear and gentle rubbing. The bakelite cord guide on the base has probably been replaced. The mosaic favrile glass tiles on the base with a few isolated and minor surface cracks, and with some occasional small or minute edge flecks. The sockets all appear to be original; two of the switches appear to be original, and the third switch is mis-matched and appears to be a replacement. The period finial has some rubbing and some small areas of patina loss around the bottom perimeter. A superb example of the model, displaying an intensely saturated and striking selection of glass. The base is a particularly fine example of this rare model, displaying strong color and iridescence, and a deep rich russet patina.

Catalogue Note

This lamp is distinguished by the striking color palette achieved by its unusual glass selection, and its exquisite mosaic "Dragonfly" base. While this shade was typically offered on a standard "Mushroom" base, it was alternatively available on this more elaborate mosaic base, which was exclusively designed to carry this fourteen-inch "Dragonfly" shade model. As a unit, it represents the ultimate marriage of a Tiffany shade and base.
