Condition

Very good overall condition. There are four very tight hairline cracks that extend from the top rim (one approximately 2 ½ and three approximately 1 inch respectively). The colors on the bowl are slightly richer in person than they appear in the catalogue illustration.

Catalogue Note

The present lot is an iconic example of the Arts and Crafts works by Sara Galner for Paul Revere Pottery.  Galner's work is considered to be among the best pieces produced for the firm and the artist was often chosen to create works for exhibitions.  Examples of her work can be found in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where a special exhibition celebrating her work took place September 14, 2006-June 3, 2007.
