Catalogue Note

Lucas made many journeys to the East, three of which are recorded in works by him (though they were edited by others). The present book describes his first voyage, from 1699 to 1703, during which he travelled in Egypt, Cyprus, Persia and Syria. The first edition is described as rare by Blackmer and Atabey; this copy has an additional leaf Nn (p.417) inserted at the end of volume 2, between Mm[4] and [5] which is not noted in either bibliography.
