Condition

Hunault: canvas not lined. Horizontal stretcher marks visible at center of canvas and a slight indentation at center left. Very minor pigment separation at the lower corners. Uneven varnish at right of head. Under UV light: two tiny spots of inpainting on her face and at bottom of her dress. Very minor touch-ups in background, particularly on chair at lower right. Officer: canvas is lined and very pressed; it is however, a little slack in the stretcher. Scattered pigment separation on the jacket, at waist, arms and shoulders. Under UV light: retouching to these areas to fill in the separation and to a few other spots in the background.
