Condition

Leonard: canvas not lined. There is very fine craquelure through the canvas, particularly on the blues and browns, but not distracting. Overall the surface is in good condition with good impasto and vibrant colors. Under UV light: inpainting to lips, nostrils and below left eyebrow and a little on the hair of the girl. Some strengthening to signature. Courtois: Canvas not lined. Horizontal stretcher marks at center. Circular craquelure through canvas but without paint lifting. The varnish is slightly yellowed and dull. Could benefit from cleaning. Under UV light: a 4 inch repaired tear on the left arm and another smaller repair at center of chest. Circa 5 oval repairs at upper quadrant. Further inpainting along bottom edge.
