Description
comprising: a tall cylindrical vase, 19th century, carved in relief with a lotus pond, the leaves with simulated 'insect bores', bordered by a T-scroll band at the mouth and gui dragons at the foot, metal fitting to interior; a libation cup, 18th century, naturalistically carved as a pine trunk issuing knobby branches and pine needles; a tall seal in the form of a bamboo shoot, 18th / 19th century, the seal face carved with characters which may be translated as 'Book Collection of the Villager (Zun Min)'; and a small carving of a water buffalo upon an integral rocky base, late 19th century (4)
Condition
seal with negligible age cracks. Natural chip to one end of seal face, resulting from the knot of the root. Black ink stains, remnant of red in on face. Vase with age cracks and some filled in holes. Metal canister fitted to interior. Libation cup and water buffalo in good condition.
