Description

the cylindrical vessel pierced and carved with four scholars gathered around a table displaying an unrolled scroll and inkstone, all below boldly carved branches and pine needles, surrounded by craggy rockwork, the reverse with a thin pierced section depicting an attendant with a fan, tending to the tea, all supported on very low bracket feet, the bamboo of reddish-brown color with glossy patina

Condition

The brushpot has deep patina and has expected age cracks at the foot and mouth. One age crack to a reticulated area above the attendant with a small chip 1/4 inch long.
