Description
well-carved in low-relief, featuring a continuous scene of 'The Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove', the sages in various pursuits within the mountainous landscape, accompanied by attendants tending to their needs, the bamboo leaves finely detailed with intricately hollowed centers, with a large pine tree arching over the meandering stream, the brushpot supported on three low bracket feet, the wood of dark-brown color, Japanese wood box (2)

Condition
Vertical age cracks at the foot. One insect bore to a pine needle cluster. Miniscule nibble at the rim. Ink stains and minor scratches to the interior. Deep patina.
