Description

of rounded rectangular shape, decorated in gold and silver hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, kirigane, hirame and kimpun and gold foil on a kin-ji ground depicting the stations of the Tokaido Road, each identified by a gold foil cartouche including Akasaka, Mitsuke, Odawara, Hamamatsu and Kameyama, the cover with a scene of Mount Fuji and the Nihonbashi bridge with daimyo (lord) procession, the interior tray depicting continuous scenes of mountains, bridge, cherry trees and pine with travelers, all on a kin-ji (gold) ground

Condition

Some kirigane missing on the lid and a few scratches to the upper rim of the tray. The rise of the box has two minor chips and many of rectangular gold foil bearing the names of the station are missing.
