the rounded rectangular box decorated in gold and red hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, kirigane and hirame, the cover depicting a carriage from the Sakaki chapter from the Tales of Genji showing a draped obi from under the sudare (rattan blinds), beside a stream, the sides with a continuous scene of mandarin ducks swimming amidst kohone (candock) and cherry blossoms, the interior in fine nashi-ji, the inner tray decorated with a pine grove against a full moon on a ro-iro (black lacquer) ground
Condition
Three very tiny kirigane (tiny gold sheet cut inlays) are missing, otherwise in good condition.
