Description

the square body with indented corners decorated on a fundame ground with a fine design of the Rokkasen, the six poets (Ono-no Komachi, Bunya no Yasuhide, Sojo Henjo, Ariwara no Narihira, Kisen Hoshi, Otomo no Yakamochi) inlaid in variously glazed pottery in Ristuo style, with gold and colored hiramaki-e, takamaki-e  and kirigane, the sides with lines of poems in Rimpa style inlaid with mother-of-pearl, gold foil and pewter, the interior divided diagonally in Kodaiji-style maki-e, the left in nashiji and the right part in fundame with a poem in similar manner, the interior of the box in fine nashiji, the rims mounted with silver, with black lacquer storage box, with an inscription Rokkasen maki-e Kashiki  (2)

Slight rubbing to the corners of the lid, otherwise in good condition.
