Description

the exterior of the rectangular box decorated in gold, silver and iro-e hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and mother-of-pearl inlay with scattered maple and cherry blossom leaves on a kirigane ground, the interior in nashi-ji, the inner tray decorated in hiramaki-e, kirigane and hirame on a nashi-ji ground with roundels of pampas grasses, bamboo, pinks, camellia, plum  blossoms and narcissus, the box containing four small incense boxes (kogo) the top sections depicting gold butterflies on a ground of kimpun sprinkled red and silver, divided in a geometric line, the sides of the kogo in silver lacquer

Condition

There are some rubbing of the gold lacquer to the corners of the tray and risers (corners) of the box but overall general condition is good.
