Description
decorated in fine gold and silver hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, kirigane and kimpun on a kin-ji ground with luxuriant flowers and birds by a meandering stream, the sides depicting various shells, the underside of the box unusually decorated with finely executed blossoming flowers including marigolds, plums and safflowers on the sides of the stream, three geese in flight, a cormorant and finches perched on a tree, the interior in nashiji (2)

The underside gold ground has some scratches (visible in the catalogue illustration) otherwise good condition.
