Condition
The overall condition is very good with only minor foxing and light creases. The foxing is on the bottom and top and does not affect the painted areas.

Catalogue Note
According to one of the colophons, the nobleman may be Ying Xi with the title Taishou (a common quasi-official or unofficial reference to a prefect or grand administrator). One of the colophons is also dated to the Daoguang period, wuzi year, in accordance with 1828, so it is possible that the colophon was written not too long after the painting was completed.
The composition of the present lot is related to a portrait of the Qianlong emperor seated on a horse in front of the White Pagoda, in the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, Washington, D.C., in which the Qianlong emperor appears to be casually dressed in a blue robe riding a striding horse (see Jan Stuart, Worshiping the Ancestors, Washington D.C., 2001, p. 123, fig. 5.5.)
