  • hanging scroll, ink and color on paper
signed on the upper left Zhang Yuan, dated wuzi (in accordance with 1948), the twelfth lunar month, inscribed, with a dedication, and two seals of the artist

In good condition overall with faint abrasions to the surface on the bottom.

Compare a scroll also dated to the wuzi year (in accordance with 1948) and depicting two figures in a mountainous landscape, sold in these rooms, 8th December 1987, lot 171. Another hanging scroll dated dinghai (in accordance with 1947) depicting a similar subject featuring a river and mountain was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 5th May 1994, lot 985.
