Description

each slightly curved crest above a slightly bowed splat, the curved arms on serpentine supports, the stiles and front arm supports of circular section, continuing through the rectangular seats inset with hard cane, to form the legs of tapering square section, the front and sides with humpback stretchers with twin vertical struts, box stretchers, the wood of a golden brown, each chair with a loose pale beige silk seat cushion (4)

Condition

Assembled from old parts, seats converted from soft to hard cane; one chair with areas of enhanced grain, particularly to front of arm supports, repaired breaks to handrests, small spliced repair to back of one armrest where it joins the rear stile, 1/4 by 4 inch patch to top of seat where it joins splat, 1 inch patch of fill to bottom of one front leg and small area of fill by mortice of said leg; second chair with small repair to one join of crest rail and stile, some filled cracks to crest rail and splat, repair to join between armrest and one front support, 1 by 1/4 inch loss to rear of one back foot, repaired break to side of top of seat near one front arm support
