Catalogue Note
This exceptional jar is similar to one in the Eumorfopoulos Collection in the Victoria and Albert Museum, Oriental Ceramics: The World's Great Collections, Tokyo, 1976, vol. 6, pl. 1. The buff-colored stoneware of both examples are decorated with geometric impressions repeated throughout the surface.
