Description

of compressed spherical form rising to an everted gilt bronze rim decorated with a band of key-fret, with two vertical loop handles, the body decorated with a Indian lotus flowers borne on curly leafy vines on a turquoise ground, the gilt bronze pierced cover finely chased with two dragons chasing flaming pearls, below a rounded knop decorated with cloud scroll

Provenance

From a private European collection acquired in the 1980's.

Condition

There is an area of enamel (4.5cm diam) repaired around one foot. There is two areas of repair to the side (4cm by 3cm and 4cm by 2cm) and three small areas of repair to the sides. There is some rubbing to the gilding on the rim of the cover, the handles and the rim of the censer.
