Description

of cylindrical shape rising from a short flared foot, decorated just below the shoulder with a band of ruyi-shaped clouds, the slightly waisted neck embellished with a twisted rope band, the sides set with a pair of stylised cloud-shaped handles, an apocryphal four-character Xuande mark within a rectangular cartouche on the side, the base engraved with a central floret

From a private European collection. Acquired in London in the 1960s.

Condition

The censer is in overall very good condition with the exception of some tiny nicks and pitting around the rim.
