Description

the body of elongated baluster shape rising from a slightly tapering foot, applied at the shoulders with a pair of dragon mask handles suspending beaded rings, the body painted all over with irregular gold splashes, an apocryphal six-character Xuande mark within a rectangular cartouche to the base

From a private European collection. Acquired in London in the 1960s.

Condition

The censer is in overall good condition with the exception of very light overall wear to the surface and a small area of dark staining to one side.
