stoneware, modelled with a smiling expression, finely detailed feet, on ebonised wood base

Condition

A well modelled example with well defined details and good colour definition. There are signs of firing faults to the interior of the jar and a brass collar has been fitted to the interior rim, probably at manufacturing stage. From the interior rim two vertical and one horizontal crack can be seen on the interior of the jar. These are only slightly noticable on the exterior of the piece. There is a horizontal firing flaw around the tail just above the level of the bird's foot. The base is fixed to the ebonised stand by two old screws, which are possibly original and are now rusted. The ebonised base with some slight wear. There are some fine firing flaws to the interior of the bird's head. But overall a good example with a pleasing expression.
