Catalogue Note

St. Ursula was martyred at Cologne following her return from a pilgrimage to Rome with eleven thousand maidens. In this depiction, four diminutive virgins shelter at her feet. Another Malines version of St. Ursula, equally with four maidens, is preserved in the Hôpital Notre Dame, Malines.
