Description

  • A stone head of the Virgin
crowned, on modern marble and metal base

Condition

General chips and scratches as is evident in the catalogue photograph with a small section of the left nostril missing. Small section of the chin possibly reattached. The crown is originally carved in two sections, the top part has been reattached at one stage. There is evidence of restoration to the back of the crown. Gereral wear consistent with age. Some traces of paint evident.

Catalogue Note

Stylistically the crown can be compared with that worn by a Virgin attributed to the Burgundy Languedoc school by Boccador.
