Catalogue Note

The bust is typical of late sixteenth and early seventeenth century Italian demi figures of Christ as Ecce Homo intended to incite both devotion and piety.

A thermoluminescence test has been carried out by Oxford Authentication yielding the result that the terracotta was fired between 300 and 500 years ago.
