Catalogue Note

This composition is known in two other versions: one in the Linder Collection and another formerly in the possession of Elizabeth and Eleanor Lupton (sold at auction in 2006). The version in the Linder Collection shows the first rabbit in a red coat and, therefore, not Peter Rabbit. This present version is entirely unknown.
