STRUCTURE
The canvas has been lined.
PAINT SURFACE
The painting appears to be in good condition. There is some minor retouching to the dark areas in the background.
ULTRAVIOLET
Examination under ultraviolet light confirms scattered retouching overall, as well as revealing minor retouching in the face of the sitter. There is a new layer of varnish overall.

Held in a British 'Sunderland' carved and gilded frame .
