- 37,5 x 24,3 cm
a rare calendar, complete with cover and headpiece, published by Scheltema & Holkema Amsterdam, twelve loose leaves, all signed with monogram on the stone. Nieuwenhuis depicted motifs associated with the seasons of the year, he used coloured Easter eggs for April and grapes on the vine for October

Catalogue Note
The calender sheet for March 1896 is one of the most asymmetrical images that Theodoor Nieuwenhuis produced. Rendered in more sinuous lines than he normally used, it is a striking example of Dutch Art Nouveau.
