Catalogue Note

first complete edition of pushkin's masterwork.

Although Pushkin had completed chapter 8 of Eugene Onegin in Tsarskoe Selo in the summer of 1831, he continued to tinker with the piece until the end of his life, being fully involved with the design and proofreading of the 1837 "miniature edition" which appeared just ten days before his death.

The appearance of a complete edition of the poem after the seven year publication history of the separate chapters was a logical step; it duly appeared on 25 March 1833, priced 12 roubles.
