Catalogue Note

the earliest study on pollination. Sprengel, who had been taught by Ernst Ludwig Heim, focussed his study around the pollination of geraniums, the plant's structure and the function of insects in relation to it. Six years from conception to publication, and largely neglected by his contemporaries, Sprengel's research influenced several of Darwin's works.
