2 volumes in one, folio (429 x 311mm.), engraved title-page to volume 1, title to volume 2 within large woodcut cartouche, calligraphic woodcut initials and tailpieces, woodcut and engraved illustrations (including 22 double-page engravings), some full-page, with blank leaf Rrr2 in volume 2, printed music in volume 2, contemporary German blind-stamped pigskin, lettered in manuscript on spine, in modern tan morocco folding box, tooled in period style, signed by the author at the foot of the preface of volume 1, some early manuscript annotations (in a different hand), title-page slightly shorter, some leaves slightly shaved, M1 and 4 of volume 2 water-damaged and repaired at foot, binding slightly soiled, joints starting to crack at foot, flyleaves repaired
