Catalogue Note
Faile is a collaborative comprising Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller, who began working together in high school; they were later joined by Aiko Nakagawa and worked under the name A-Life until circumstances forced them to change this, which they did by rearranging the letters. Based in New York, but roving across Europe and Asia, they form part of the Street movement (together with Banksy, WK and Bast), stencilling designs or hanging printed posters on walls, bridges and other handy urban locales. Their imagery derives from low-art pop sources, urban experience, and other Street art: sexy women, guns, ersatz violence, pulp fiction themes. In order to fund these projects they present formal exhibitions of their work in galleries, sell t-shirts and take commissions for graphic work for night clubs, boutiques, etc.
