Catalogue Note

Subjective imagery is the area which I have been exploring....I reject the outer world – the appearance of the natural world....The subconscious has been my guiding factor in all my work. I deal with the inner feeling. – Adolph Gottlieb in Gruen, The Party's Over Now, p. 258
