Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is much brighter and more vibrant in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. (i) There is some very light wear to the corner tips and in some places along the extreme edges. There is light canvas draw to the two bottom and top left-hand corners and a very faint vertical rub mark to the centre of the extreme left-hand edge and two further light rub marks towards the centre of the extreme right-hand edge. There's an isolated very fine drying crack, approximately 2 cm long, running parallel to the centre of the extreme left-hand edge and a network of feather cracks towards the bottom left-hand corner. A small area of the white paint towards the centre of the figure is slightly dirty and there are a few very light handling marks visible in the white paint in places along the extreme bottom edge. There are several fly-spots scattered in some places across the figure. There are two extremely fine scratches in the upper right-hand quadrant. (ii) There is an extremely fine hairline tension crack running in places along the extreme top and left hand edges, with some tiny spots of paint loss to the black paint in places along the extreme left-hand edge. There are faint handling marks in the white areas to the top and left-hand edges. There are a few fly-spots scattered in a some places. No restoration is visible under ultra-violet light.
