Catalogue Note

Count Henri de Baillet-Latour was the principal figure on the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee from 1906-1925.  In 1920, he championed for the celebration of the Games of the VII Olympiad in Antwerp, with hopes that it could help revitalize the war ravaged city.  Due to his extraordinary prowess and leadership, Count Henri de Baillet-Latour was elected President of the Olympic Committee in 1925, which he served until 1942. During his presidency, he devoted himself untiringly to preserving the nobility and and beauty of the Olympic games.
