Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is softer in the original with less black and more grisaille tones to the head. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is minor wear along all four extreme edges. There are scattered hair line cracks in the thicker areas of paint and matrices of craquelure running parallel to the left and to the centre of the right edges. In places the craquelure on the left edge is lifting slightly and has resulted in some minute specks of media loss. There is a small media loss to the white impasto at the lower centre of the right edge. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light.
