Catalogue Note
In the summer of 1999 the ICA staged Low Sweetie, the first solo
exhibition in a public gallery by German artist Thomas Scheibitz.
Scheibitz creates strange and highly artificial images, using a range of recurring motifs such as stars, flowers, circles and windows, and
happily straddling abstraction and representation. The work GP 125,
2008, has been made especially for the ICA's 60th anniversary auction, and is based on Rosette, 1999, a work on canvas that was part of the artist's exhibition at the ICA.
