Condition
Colour:
The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is slightly richer and deeper with greater depth and intensity in the original. The green stroke of pigment to the upper part of the left edge tends more towards dark forest green, the red at the centre-left of the lower part to rich crimson, the peach in the lower centre to pale milky chocolate and the greens in the upper right quadrant to shades of moss green in the original.
Condition:
This work is in very good condition. Upon close examination there are a few tiny losses to the paint surface: one very small loss beneath the brown pigment towards the cemtre of the canvas, another to the pink impasto to the right of the signature and a further tiny loss towards the bottom left extreme edge. Upon close examination there are a number of tiny isolated breaks to the impasto peaks scattered throughout. There is a tiny spot of lifting to the green pigment at the centre of the top horizontal section with a few minute associated cracks and losses. There are a number of isolated fine hairline cracks: one to the red impasto at the top of the lower left quadrant, another to the brown pigment at the centre of the lower third of the composition, one to the brown-beige pigment on the left side above the centre, one to the blue pigment on the right side top edge and a few to the white pigment triangle above the left centre side of the composition. On close examination there are a few further fine and stable hairline tension cracks to the right extreme overturn edge. There is a small spot of inconsistent pigment which fluoresces slightly under ultraviolet light halfway between the centre and bottom on the right extreme edge.
