Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is softer, with the background tending more towards cream. The catalogue illustration fails to fully convey the three-dimensionality of the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. The canvas is slightly time-stained, in particular to the extreme edges where some light dirt has also gathered. Some light wear is noticeable upon close inpsection to the four extreme corner tips. There is a very small indentation to the extreme right edge below centre. A number of very fine hairline cracks are visible in a few scattered places to the thicker impasto passages. There are a few scattered pinprick-sized spots of media loss. Some dust fibres have adhered to the work's surface, in particular to the recessed areas of the composition. There are a number of burst drying bubbles to the paint passages, inherent to the artist's chosen medium. No restoration is apparent under UV lgiht.
