SURFACE:
Areas of paint cracquelure and shrinkage appear mainly in the sky. The canvas has rubbed against the edges of the frame. It is very dirty and should benefit from cleaning. The surface is thin in several areas most notably in the tree, bull, and cows on the right and lower sky on the left side.
UV LIGHT:
Under UV, the birds appear to be addedn in the sky and minor retouchings appear in the sky mainly on the right hand side. A few minor retouchings appear elsewhere but these are minimal.
FRAME:
Contained in a plaster moulded gilt painted frame (damaged).
COLOUR COMPARISON:
The colours appear stronger than the catalogue illustration suggests.
