Condition
The canvas has been lined. There is a tiny fleck of paint loss just lower left of centre. There is craquelure to the paint surface and a suggestion of some very minor paint shrinkage in places. There are two old repaired tears to the lower central section with resulting craquelure. There are some suggestions of further old repaired damage to the lower left section. There is surface dirt and a discoloured varnish to the work. Ultraviolet light reveals some retouching to the central section in places, particularly to the repaired damages and elsewhere although a thick and uneven varnish prevents a more conclusive examination. Held in a decorative gold painted frame in fair condition.
