Description
- Jan van der Waarden
- still life of fruit with dahlias and roses
- signed l.r.: J. Van der Waarden
- oil on canvas
- 74 by 60 cm.; 29¼ by 23½ in.
Condition
The canvas has been relined, stabilising old craquelure. Old stretcher marks are still visible running around the borders and horizontally and vertically throuigh the centre. There are two small repaired damages to the canvas along the upper section of the sky. Ultraviolet light reveals retouching to these repairs and scattered spots elsewhere under an opaque varnish, preventing a conclusive examination. Held in a decorative plaster frame.
