Les Chants de Maldoror furent imprimés la première fois en 1869, à une dizaine d'exemplaires seulement, lesquels furent sans doute donnés par Lacroix et Verboeckhoven à Ducasse et distribués par lui. Il s'agit donc de la pemière édition, seuls les titre et faux-titre en ont été réimprimés.
