Description

straight, lightly watered steel blade, the forte and back edge with raised crenellated decoration with palmette detailing, inlaid with silver inscription, hilt with rubbed gold koftgari work

Condition

In fair condition, pitting and patination, surface wear and abrasion, hilt almost bare of damascening, as viewed.

Catalogue Note

The inscription in Urdu relates the sword's purchase by 'Abbas Salih Muhammad Khan Sahib from the armoury of Yar Muhammad Khan Sahib Bahadur. It is possible that this may have been the son of the Talpur ruler of Hyderabad of Sind, Mir Murad 'Ali.
