- 15 by 5 1/2 in. 38.1 by 14 cm.
decorated with the four Sons of Horus arranged vertically in two confronted pairs, a checkerboard pattern below, a frieze of lotus buds above.

Condition
framed behind glass, edges fragmentary as shown, several cracks and holes, loose pieces at bottom border replaced, upper right corner restored, some slight restoration along the right-hand edge.

Catalogue Note
After serving during the second World War Rainer Kriebel was recruited as an analyst by US military intelligence. He then became a military advisor to Syria in the 1950s, and later military attaché to the German Federal Republic's embassy to Egypt in Cairo in the 1960s. He is the co-author of Inside the Afrika Corps, London, 1999. References to his career can be found in: J.
